Doug is an outstanding decorator. His work is of the highest quality with real attention to detail. He is very tidy and cleans up every day before he leaves. He offers great advice on suitable paints and materials for each job. I have used Doug on at least 3 occasions now and will be definitely using him again. If you are looking for a great decorator then I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

We have used him several and always found that he goes above and beyond what you would expect of a tradesman. Always pleasant and professional. Doug was strongly recommended to me by one of his previous customers. I found him to be an extremely pleasant person who was easy to talk to and gave me helpful advice. He is very professional and his work is of the highest standard. Doug started work on the agreed date and we had full confidence in giving him a set of keys to allow him access when we were out. I have used Doug numerous times now as his work is of a high standard and he is very reliable. Doug completed a full apartment renovation for me this time after a long term tenant moved out of my property. The quality of work was exceptional making the apartment look brand new. He arrived when he said, was always punctual and offered good advice on wall papers and colours. Needless to say it paid off as a week after he finished I put the apartment up for sale and got a buyer immediately. Highly recommended. Would not use anyone else

A great job and Doug went above and beyond what we asked; including painting radiators, filling gaps in another room altogether, and in the process mixing paint to match that extra area. He even did some cable tidying for us!We'd chosen some particularly difficult wallpaper to match, and one part of the wall isn't quite level, but Doug was diligent in making sure that everything looked right.All in all, really pleased and we'd definitely recommend.

Doug Atherton has been my painter and decorator for about 30 years now and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. His work is exemplary and of the highest standard. You couldn't find a better tradesman anywhere. He shows great attention to detail and is always helpful. He always cleans up after himself and never leaves a mess. Friendly, great sense of humour and nothing is too much trouble for him. In other words, not only the best painter and decorator but a thoroughly nice man.

Mr Atherton is by far and away the best Decorator I have encountered. He is everything you want in a tradesman. Not only is his work of an extremely high standard he is meticulous and punctual. He clearly takes pride in his work always making sure the finish is just right and completed to your satisfaction. He never leaves a mess always cleaning up after himself before packing up for the day. Whats more his rates are extremely reasonable for a Decorator of his standard and experience.

Doug has just finished decorating for me and oh what a pleasant man he is. He is always happy and smiling and carried out the work to a very high standard. His work is exceptional. He is the most pleasant trustworthy man to have in your home. He was kind and thoughtful to me and he worked so well and so tidy always leaving everywhere tidy.!! The work completed was of an excellent standard, could not be happier. Exceptionally tidy and caused no disruption to the household. Very trustworthy as half of the job was carried out whilst we were on holiday so just left the keys with Doug. He even fed our fish for us while we were away! Was recommended Dougie by the plumber we use. Would highly recommend Dougie - was very punctual, suggested paints and techniques that would look more professional whilst doing our whole living room. After spending the first day with Dougie decided to leave him the key to our house and go into work for the other 3 days. Doug is friendly reliable and has a very high standard of work He has recently wallpapered and decorated my 10 year old daughters bedroom and it is stunning. We saw Doug's reviews on the Trading Standards Approved website and asked him to paint a newly plastered room for us. His work was excellent in all respects and we are delighted with the results. We are looking for Doug to do other areas of the house now - he is a sought-after man so we'll have a little bit of a wait but the quality of his work makes him worth waiting for!

Stripped sealed and painted living room ceiling and walls. Then papered one feature wall. Prior to his worked all walls had been papered. When paper was removed the surface was poor. He corrected this and when finished the walls looked like New. He was friendly and proffescianal . He would take no short cuts and kept to his estimate. This is the second time we have used him and would contact him again.

We had our master bedroom stripped of wallpaper, woodwork painted, repapered and painted. Doug did a fantastic job; we had the room decorated prior to selling the house - the first viewer put an offer on, commenting on the high standard of decor in that room. Doug worked quickly, moved furniture and left the place tidy each day. He made suggestions about the wallpaper and paint which look lovely. Really friendly, trustworthy guy with a good sense of humour.

Doug visited us gave a competitive price and made valuable suggestions for which we valued his opinion. He advised he couldn't do the job immediately but kept us updated as to when he would commence. He arrived promptly on the 1st day fully equipped with the correct materials and protective sheets, he was A very clean polite considerate workman, Doug is obviously a perfectionist and sets himself very high standards, the job took longer than he & we thought not because Doug worked slowly but because there was more preparation involved than we had led him to believe. He even solved a problem and did an extra bit that none one else had been prepared to do, his standard of work was perfect and we will certainly use him again and not hesitate in recommending him to others.

This man is a one off. His work is fantastic. I was very down at the time of having lost my husband and sister in law all in the last 6 months late last year. But you cannot be down when he is around. I had a fall in the garden when he was here. He helped me up and made me a hot drink. I would have him back anytime if i had the money. There is a lot of people asking for his number
